  • VrayBitmap: "Show Map On Back" doesn't work on Map Channel greater than 1

    Hi,

As the title says, the option "Show Map On Back" doesn't work on Map Channel greater than 1 for VrayBitmap (in this case scenario, map channel is 2, with a VrayBlend and an alpha map). The map still shows on back, but changing to Bitmap works as expected.
    I'm using Vray 60008, 3dsmax 2023.

I have attached a screenshot of the material structure. I also have an example scene, but cannot upload it here, let me know if I can send it by email.

    Thank you

Hi I haven't used this workflow. This is what I found on the Autodesk help page -
Show Map on BackWhen on, planar mapping (Planar from Object XYZ, or with the UVW Map modifier) projects through to render on the back of the object. When off, planar mapping doesn't render on the object's back. Default=on.
So you are trying to render a single face geometry without showing the texture on one side? This does not work for me in any combination.

      hi,

What I need is to project a logo on the shirt of a character. I want to see the logo only on the front side, his chest, and don't want to see the logo on his back. A bit like the new "VrayDecal" feature, but the old way.

The example above was with a box. Please see below a bit more info. I can send an example scene if you like.

      Thanks for your help

Hi no need for a scene I was able to confirm it in my scene. At first I didn't know what am I looking at with the pink squares (thought it might be background). I will have to report it but I don't know if it is possible to use other channels than 1. Let me check and I will get back to the thread.
