apparently there is a registry hack for windows XP that lets you get more than 10 connections per machine.

surely its not illegal to change a value in the registry is it?

have to dig that info out sometime!

I have been getting this with 4000x4000 pixel renders. We have 3 licenses of Vray, 12 machines on the renderfarm and Win2003 Server.

So the 10-pc limit shouldn't affect us, but we still get the dark buckets.

I have used your workaround by saving the IR map and using that to DR with - its a bit of a pain though. Is this something Chaos Group can address?

I still can't narrow it down. I don't know if it is something with VRay or just something with the number of servers we are running. We have 20 rendernodes plus our main workstations. So it could be that I am creating too much network traffic and something doesn't get transferred correctly. It is rather annoying though...fortunately the work-arounds still work correctly here. But you are correct in the fact that it is a pain. When I get a chance, I will dig back into that old file to see if I can see why it happens.

On a related note, can anyone confirm that DR will work with XRef scenes? I have two seperate projects running and the trees/cars etc are Xrefed in. They don't render properly when using DR.

I am 95% sure all paths are OK.

If I merge the Xref, they work just fine.

Xref scenes do not work, xref objects do
