  • Vray stealing windows focus

Is there a way to stop this? Is very annoying that vray steals windows focus when rendering and after rendering... you are using another app while rendering and keeps popping up front.

    Dear houourin, hello.

Could you please share the host platform that you are using and the exact V-Ray version?
That way we could move the question to a more relevant section and help you in the certain context.

    Thanks in advance.

      sure

      3Dsmax 2023.2.2
      Windows 10
Vray6 vray_adv_60021_max2023_x64_31705_install I'm using a Nightly version but it happens with the release version too.
Is not broken or anything just annoying that it steals the focus of windows too often.

      Thank you.

        Thank you for the details.
I will transfer your inquiry into V-Ray for 3dsMax forum section now and colleagues will join the discussion.

Can you record a short video of how this happens (could be with your phone)? I haven't come across such behavior myself.

          Best regards,

            sure! thank you for replying.

I can't upload a heavy file in the forum but here is an example you click render and at some point VFB steals the focus of windows. This is when starting a render but seems there are more situations too...
Also when using some pass manager like RenderStacks with Vray it becomes a constant battle with the focus stealers. Not sure who's fault is though.

This is specially bad when multitasking, doing some comp, or texture work while rendering some local test... and you are interrupted.

Ok, thanks - that definitely helps. Does this happen for you on every single scene? A quick test here with some scenes doesn't show the issue, so I'm wondering if there is something else that I need to do to reproduce it.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

I see! so I'm the one doomed.

I will care more from now on, but I would say is quite often I'm battling with the focus stealers, so yes... not 100% but close to that I would say.
my system is a Threadripper 3990x and a nvidia 3090 in case has something to do with that.

Ok, thanks for the additional info - will keep an eye out for this. I thought we had fixed all such cases but maybe we missed some specific case.

                  Best regards,

Whoops, I'm getting this focus stealing too.
I have set up a small script that will do test renderings using a for-loop and "max quick render" inside of it.
                    (Also using a 3090.)

Edit to add I'm on Vray 5, update 1.3
