  • Distributed rendering not working

    Hi all,

I've got an issue where our render nodes won't render. They appear to load the scene and then crash, yet when I run the scene directly from 3DS max on the render node it renders without issue.

I can't quite work out what's causing it from the logs - although it does appear to get to a Forest Pro object's multi-sub material and then crash.

Though there's nothing particularly unusual about this material and it used to render fine (about a year ago when this project was last opened - client revisions...!).

Update: The render servers contribute just fine when a default grey material is used in the material override.

    Any ideas?

Hi, thanks for posting, Have you tried to replace only this material that you suspect is causing issues with a new VRayMtl? Have you tried to enable the "transfer missing assets" checkbox in the distributed rendering settings?
Try these suggestions and let us know how it goes. In case the crash continues you could send us the scene for review. Do that here or through the support contact form. Please don't forget to include a link to this thread in your message and/or my name in the description.
