  • Clicking "Enable GI" in 6.1 crashes 3dsmax

As title says, when I try to click "Enable GI" it instantly crashes 3dsmax. New scene, old scene, doesn't matter.

Via script it works, so i guess it's a QT UI issue?

It probably is. We are looking into it at the moment and will try to resolve it ASAP.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Any chance you have a maxstart preset? Looks like it's crashing only when you have the old "Expert" mode set for this rollout, which is not available in the latest versions.

Yes we have a startup script that sets up Vray too. I'll try modifying it to see if it works

renderers.current.gi_ui_view should be 0 (default) or 1 (advanced)

I can confirm that was indeed the problem. Thank you, it's solved

We'll fix it on our side as well, thanks for the report!

Could you try with today's stable nightly build (https://nightlies.chaos.com/main#/vr...e_6.1/20230217) - it should have a fix for the crashes with GI controls and you wouldn't need to do anything with MAXScript.
