  • V-Ray Material

I posted this a few times, over the years. I can not view my bitmap when I use a VrayBitmap. What am I doing wrong? it doesn't matter where the bitmap comes from. A MAX bitmap works just fine.

    I WILL HAVE TO RE-RECORD!

Works fine on my end. Using Display Driver Nitrous Direct3D 11. Which one do you have set?

I see you're using Max 24, so there's a SME bug with the show materials button.
You can still activate it by right-clicking the material and choosing the option there

It was the same think in MAX 2023. I will try your suggestion.

Oh right, it's the view image option rather than the 'show in viewport'...I misinterpreted.

Oh, I have totally misunderstood the issue. However, the button works fine on my end. Could you check if it happens when you reset 3ds Max to its defaults?

When I open a new scene, and create a new material, picking View Image, I get this error.

                    Could not read/write file type: C:\Users\info\OneDrive\Documents\Chaos Cosmos\Packages\Materials\Wood\Wood_Light_04_100cm _461fe212\461fe212_Diff_4k_srgb.tx

I am a local admin, but it seems like Windows 11 keeps programs from accessing files/folders.

Here is a search - not my post, but from MAX 2023. I also reported this at least a year ago.

There is a known issue with .tx and relative paths (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-11189), however, on the video you shared earlier it does not seem to be related. Does the issue occur if the image file is located elsewhere? Maybe Win11 is indeed blocking access.

It happens when the material is anywhere. Win11 has been a pain in the butt when it come to V-Ray, for sure!
