  • Dome Light - Too much noise on render elements.

    Hello

Can anyone give me some ideas to get rid of these noisy render elements due to Dome light?

Image on left is GI element from a Dome light only. Image on right is the GI element using the 3dsmax environment only.

    Tks!

Hi, thanks for posting. I can't help much without the scene. You could try to import a Dome Light from Chaos Cosmos and test with it. Also try to reset your render settings (switch the render engine to scanline and back).
If the issue is still happening after these steps, please send us the scene trough our support contact form.

The domelight does *not* produce GI, but direct light.
In interiors, that may bounce into GI, but for exterirors, it generally bounces back into the environment.
When using a background instead, then the first bounce too is GI.

      Consider this:
Beauty render (lit with a domelight):

        Tks Lele,

So, basically GI is not usable on that circunstance. It won´t be a problem.

The same data (the first-bounce lighting) will be in the Lighting RE instead, with that setup.
GI will stay very usable, provided the scene allows it to fill with data.
Should you want the dome light contribution separate, to readd it to the GI RE, you can use a light select + composite right in the VFB, or go with a third-party Post application for more control.
