  • Apply Atmospherics, Vray Displacement and VRay EnvironmentFog

Hello again Im not sure if I reported this issue before. But I face it for long time. Apply Atmospherics dont work if the object have Vray Displacement modifier, so you always get those ugly cutoffs in Enviroment Fog.

I will prepare scene but its easily reproducible. Just create VRay EnvironmentFog and some object with Vray Displacement, then make it invisible for camera and switch ofApply Atmospherics. You will see the object in the fog even if it should be invisible. If you disable displacement its fine as it should be.

I can confirm the issue. Can you elaborate more on what are you trying to achieve?

If you want to separate render in to layers for example environment and characters and for is present you always see the characters in the fog in environment layer. And that not good for compositing of course.

Hi, thanks for posting. Why do you need to have both visible to camera and apply atmospherics turned off? If you have displacement + visible to camera off and apply atmospherics on, the object disappears from VRayAtmosphere as it does with displacement turned off.
There is something going on with this specific setup. I will investigate and get back to the thread.

We usualy use render mask for separating render to layers because its faster and easier than using matte in vray properties. But if you do this you will see fog sphere in render if you dong turn off apply atmospherics.

I've logged the issue under VMAX-13345. Until we got a fix for it I don't see any other way but to use matte properties.
