  • Adaptive Lights artefacts

Hi we are strugling with theese strange artefacts when using Adaptive Lights. Using light Tree kind of fix it but partialy, only Full Lights Evaluation wirks as expected, but in interior with many light its really slow to render

This error is visible only in VrayLighting pass. Check this "pixelated" effect. (gif doesnt work here?)

Are you using a domelight in your scene? Can you try do disable Adaptive Dome on that?

Yes adaptive dome light is present, but its an interior scene. I'll test it without adaptive domelight.

Any objects with disabled shadows in the scene?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Nope but invisible for camera and it seems those artefacts are around them.

Can you pack the scene and send it over? - https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Hi I just send you scene file. I just want to point out few things.

                - I tried to clean the scene as much as possible from our stuff, but maybe there could be something I miss.
                - There were some object with shadow casting of but deleting them doesnt work.
                - There is no skydome.
                - Its visible mainly in VrayLighting pass but it propagates into beauty sometime less sometimes more.
                - When rendered on one machine those artefacts are static, othervise they are moving.
                - Using Ambient Light greatly boosts this effect but without it its still there.

I am pretty sure this is caused by the domelight set to adaptive dome. Did you try to disable adaptive dome feature?

I thought there is dome light but there is not, so definitely its not because of adaptive dome light

Do you have any lights that touch each other? We have seen numerous issues there, especially if the lights are actually coplanar, but sometimes just from some intersection.

I don't see artifacts without the ambient light with the scene you sent, but indeed it's a bug.

As a workaround you can either remove the ambient light or switch to "Full lights evaluation" in Render Setup/ V-Ray/ Global switches (Advanced).
