  • red dots bug with glossy refraction - again

    Hello all,

I am trying to solve this "red dots" bug, but without success. When I am rendering material with glossy refractions, I get red splotches in images. I am using vraymtl only, vrayshadow in scene etc. Vray version 1.47.03, rendering in VIZ R4 SP1. I tried MAX R6, problem is exactly the same.

here is image with bug - without sampling

on this image the bug is clearly visible - thanks to Adaptive AA sampler

And here is the scene, textures included.

**** TO ALL - Camera is animated, you must render frame 6 to see that region with problem. Thanks ! *****

Can someone help me with this problem ? It is getting very annoyng as deadline is getting closer. Can you look at it, Vlado, please ?

    thanks a lot

    Hi !

I have downloaded your scene, but i can't see where these objects that You have shown are... I mean, when I opened the file, the room appears to be
with NO ceilign... and I am missing that glass (looking) object also...

Can You please explain, what should I do so that I can reproduce the BUG,
or just give another FILE which is an exact copy of yours... THANKS...

Also can U show a whole render of the Camera View, so that can look at the render thouroughly...

    Best Regards,

I am very very sorry, camera in the scene is animated - you must go to frame 6 to view exactly that region.

      And here is complete image:

      thanks for trying

This appears to be the same problem that Gijs was having on his plastic bottle; if you wish, you can send me an email and we'll get you the fix.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Thats exactly the same problem which I have since yesterday! I have merged a 3d-vehicle into an older scene. Now I have those red splotches all around some reflecting Materials on the vehicle.

I have no idea what the reason could be. There are no Max-Raytrace Materials in the scene.

Unfortunately I am not allowed to show or give away that scene

But I would be very happy if somone could find the problem in general.

          Best regards,
          Mirko

Mirko, the problem concerns only scenes with refractive objects with refraction glossiness less than 1.0. The problem in general has been found, see my post just above.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

              Hello Vlado

Hello Vlado, I sent you PM with email, but I didn't received that fix until now. If you are working on it I can wait longer, but can you give me some time estimate for fix to be ready ?

Or just say what to fix manualy in that particular scene geometry or materials.

My email is info(at)neovisual.cz or pajurek(at)neovisual.cz

              thanks

We are having the same problem here, if there was a fix that would be greatly appreciated. We are using a material with no glossy refraction but of course loses the total impact of having glossies. This seems to happean also with the vraymap in the refraction material of a standard material.

The email is geral[at]4arq.net or mine danielsantana[at]4arq.net.

                thanks.

I need to test that build a little bit, wouldn't want to give you something that doesn't work.

                  Best regards,

                    it works Vlado, thanks !

                    Thanks Vlado !

I tried that build you sent and it is working. "Red dot with glossy" issue is gone as it seems. When will be this release ready for public ? It seems that it fixed also another issue that caused lightcache oversaturation or overburning (that made lightcache ineffective during final rendering).

Is there working build for R4 version of MAX / VIZ ?
