  • Frequent crashing with IPR + ForestPack

New to max 2024 and I'm getting crashes every couple of minutes while adjusting my FP settings while vray interactive is running.
Is there any way for me to work out if its FP at fault or Vray? Or max for that matter?

Try duplicating your forest object, and turning off the original (Disable the eyeball in Max), but leaving it in the scene. Use the duplicate.

We had a situation that required that. Not sure it was ever resolved, or properly reported since it was in the middle of a terrible deadline.

No clue if that will help you, but at the time it solved it here. Deleting the hidden original would cause the crash to happen again.

Having said that, I think this is Vray instability. Even when doing stuff with FP hidden results in frequent crashes. Most noticably is deleting or undoing a delete operation while IPR is running.

This is insane. I haven't had this much crashing for years. No idea how I can send a scene when it's seemingly random. Opening material editor, adjusting displacement settings, adding nodes to include/exclude lists, deleting, undoing. It all seems to cause a crash (not every time of course.)

Ok I've found the problem. Effing motion blur. Whenever I switched to the camera view with moblur enabled it crashes max. I had issues with motion blur causing embree errors last week so there's something not right with it.
I'll send a scene to support.
