Hi,
what I describe below happens during the same 3DS Max session. I don't restart 3DS Max, I just toggle Color Management.
IMAGE 01:
- 3DS Max is set to "Gamma Workflow" in Color Management
- I have an image saved and set to SRGB in the VFB Display Correction.
- I save this image in JPG
- It's OK. It's identical to the VFB image
IMAGE 02:
- 3DS Max is set to "OCIO 3DS Max default" in Color Management
- I use the same image in the VFB
- I change it back to SRGB in the VFB Display Correction.
- I save this image as a JPG
- And now! Big problem: it doesn't look at all like the VFB image.
Okay. I figure it's due to 3DS Max's Color Management, which is set to "OCIO 3DS Max default".
So I switch 3DS Max's Color Management back to "Gamma Workflow", check that my image in the VFB is in SRGB in Display Correction and resave in JPG.
And now! Big problem again. The JPG image is identical to IMAGE 02. It's impossible to obtain a correct JPG image like IMAGE 01. Even after switching back to "Gamma Workflow".
The only solution is to restart 3DS Max.
