  • IPR Freeze with VrayDirt in Opacity slot

    Hello

I'va encounter a bug that i've been able to reproduce with a sample scene.

It seems that when we check the "Ignore Invisible Objects" in the VrayDirt map and put it in the Opacity slot, the IPR freeze, the timer keep running but it's impossible to stop the render, to close the VFB. Only solution it to kill 3DsMax.

I have send the files via "Submit Request form" (ticket number is: 178115)

    Thanks !

This is a known issue (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-3559), caused by a loop in the VRayDirt calculation when it is used as an opacity/refraction map that evaluates itself (through the "Ignore invisible objects" option) until it reaches the hardcoded threshold (very slow to reach).
What exactly are you trying to achieve? Maybe there's a better way of doing it.

I was creating an override material for my whole scene. And the diffuse composite i had created was also use for the opacity map.
The "ignore invisible objects" was checked to avoid penetration with VrayLight or mesh helpers not directly visible in the render.

Well, in that case, simply removing the VRayDirt part of the opacity input should resolve the issue. The "ignore invisible objects" option from the diffuse part should already take into account the opacity of the lights and objects as well.
