same here... since update 2... had no issues before and see this the first time.
is there a way to force to render the thumbnails without switching the renderer and back to vray? because you loose all the settings if you do this in a scene with render setup.

The updated installer version 6.20.00.00001 already has a fix for this - just install it and you won't need to switch renderers or force anything.

I think many people don't visit the forum regularly so they will miss this minor update.
There was no email sent for this update, nor the vfb showd the new update iirc.
The installer name is exactly the same so unless you know when was the official release and compared it to the date under the download link you will miss this update.

You are right - bumped the notification version in the VFB.
