Sun Positioner and GPU Render

is it normal that the Sun Positioner only works in CPU rendering and not in GPU rendering?

Hello,

Sun positioner is currently not supported by Standalone and V-Ray GPU. In case you want to achieve correct sun position by date, time and location, you can use a Daylight system (3ds Max Menu Bar: Create - Lights - Daylight system). In the daylight parameters rollup VRaySun should be selected as a sunlight source. Thus VRaySky will be automatically set as an environment map.
