  • Lens effects fail

    Hi all
My Lens Effects layer totally does not apply any effects in every file and type of settings.
I attache screen from log information where you can see that program can't see any object to apply glare. Glare mask is totally black even scene is full of lights and emissive materials. Please for help.

Hi, thanks for posting. What happens in a simple scene? Do you have this issue in every scene you open?
Here is how you normally enable/disable the lens effects

scene is full of lights and emissive materials
Self illuminating materials (VRayLIghtMtl) will not produce glare. Only directly visible light and specular highlights will do.

Eh? VRayLIghtMtl does produce glare, as does regular self illumination. Or do I misunderstand?

I had an issue with using some under GPU, but that's a different thing.

Glare is an image pixels effect - it doesn't know or care if the pixel is from a light, light material or anything. If the pixel (raw) value is above the threshold value - it takes part in the glare.

So I'd assume that there is some exposure/color mapping going on..

Sorry my mistake here. It depends on the intensity, with higher intensity it will work.

I'll make a post about the GPU issue separately. It was to do with it not working with an opacity map iirc...very annoying at the time.

Thanks Vladimir and all for your quick response

              I finally discover my "mistakes"

              1. Using self-illuminated materials
              2. Using 'Exponential' Color mapping type
              3. To low value of light intensity (1)

Now I have to change my scene setting habits.

When in doubt, reset the render settings to defaults.
