  • Normal map changes reflection

    hello.

when i turn off the normal map for the wood material you can see a massive difference in the room far to the right. why is it happening?

A normal is a vector indicating the direction a surface is facing. Normal maps change the direction of the vectors based on a texture. Things like different lighting and reflections are expected and the point of it all.

It looks a bit glitchy. If you imported the map as a VrayBitmap, try changing the "RGB primaries" to Raw. If it's a common bitmap, use the Override setting (it's in the bottom of your browser window) and leave the value to 1.
If the issue persists, make sure the normal map is OpenGL instead of DirectX, as 3ds prefers the former.
