  • Cosmo Material drag/drop problem

Hi, I'm having a random problem with the drag and drop of Cosmo materials to the Slate Editor.

Here's a video showing the problem.

I have no idea why or how. One day it works, one day it doesn't.

It's similar with models and is supremely irritating.
My example today is that I could drag/drop into a scene yesterday, yet in the exact same scene today I cannot and it's very annoying.

I think with models that it somehow resets the folder permissions each time it updates, or is some other quirk, as yes, it appears to only occur sometimes.
I have given up having to go in change permissions each time to sort this out and instead use the import function.

It's been posted about before but no solution was given iirc.

      This is something I've experienced.

The only way it is resolved is to restart max and load up the file again.

Seems to happen to files that have been open a while. For example, if I leave a file open overnight, then return to it the following day.

As it's some kind of web based interface, maybe it's timing out after a while?

Oddly enough I had just thought of that as a possible reason.
It does appear to be the solution, so thanks for that
Silly Cosmos for wasting my time so many times
As I rarely turn my machine off it's not something I'd considered before.

Suggestion: devs, stick a note on the app that this will happen.

          Hi,
Personally, I never leave Cosmo open.
I open it, download my resources and close it again.

I never leave 3DS Max open for nothing.

Restarting 3DSMax to solve the problem is not an option for me. Absolute waste of time.

What I do, which is also a waste of time, is draw a cube, select it, load my material onto my cube and pick it up with the eyedropper in the Slate Editor and delete my cube.

          Now that's quality workflow in 2024 !
