2024, and why don't we have a material converter that converts Autodesk materials?

I use V-RayMax Converter Pro for this.
As far as I remember, you also have it, doesn't it do what you need?Bobby Parker

As for the fact that the built-in Vray Scene Converter does not support converting Autodesk materials, I agree with you, this is strange. It was the absence of many things in Vray Scene Converter that pushed me to buy V-RayMax Converter Pro and now it really saves me.

Been using Universal Material Converter for a number of years. Pretty good, but it's node locked. Every single project I work on starts life as an imported Revit Model, and I'm perplexed that there are not straight forward ways to convert Autodesk Generic Materials to Vray, without buying a script. I've even tried to get ChatGPT to write something, but it never works properly in my attempts at least. That V-RayMax Converter Pro URL is flagged as malicious in my attempts to look at it

Use the 3dsMax converter first, and the V-Ray one afterwards.Last edited by ^Lele^; 07-01-2025, 05:35 AM.Lele

For those with the script, it would be nice if you guys could make a comparison between the two workflows (Autodesk Converter + V-Ray converter VS Vray-Max Converter PRO) as to see if there are any visible differences. I was looking into buying this but I'd like to avoid relying too much on external tools, especially if it can be done without.

I don't have time for a comparison but I can vouch for the 3rd party tool mentioed. It does a lot more than what the Autodesk converter does and the conversion from corona to vray is excellent.
