  • Distributed rendering, strange color buckets with extreme values

    Hi,

For the first time in a long time I tried distributed rendering (I used Pulze Render Manager for this, not sure if related I also contacted them). It was a big render (20000x6000 pixels), and I was rendering with 2 threadrippers 3990x and 3970x, both 256GB and Windows 11. 3dsMax 2023, Vray, latest.

There are about 17 buckets that failed to render correctly and they look like this:

Click image for larger version Name:	Screenshot 2024-06-17 110057.png Views:	0 Size:	446.2 KB ID:	1210479
Click image for larger version Name:	Screenshot 2024-06-17 110131.png Views:	0 Size:	659.8 KB ID:	1210480

When looking at the values they are extremely high/low (lens effects is going bonkers on these):

Is there any reason for this to happen? All other buckets are fine.

I've tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything.

    Thanks!

As a sidenote, I've never had any problems with rendering this scene locally for the last 2 years. It's only with distributed that I had this. It's also not only weird colors, but sometimes you can also see some geometry (see below), but it doesn't match what should be shown, more like an offset and in some strange colors (like the negative version of it): these buckets don't have the extreme values.

Hi, thanks for posting. Could you add a VRayDRBucket render element and see which machine is causing the issue? Do you have issues with lower resolutions? Have you tried to render without the Pulze manager? We have to narrow down the possibilities as much as possible.
Try to reduce the bucket size just to see if this makes any change. As a rule of thumb we do not recommend changing the bucket size, but only for the sake of experiment we could do it. Also here we have PCs with the same processors as the ones you are using available for a test.
If nothing works please send us the scene for a review and we will run it on our computers and go from there.
