  • New color management with OCIO: Background layer in VFB looks different

    Hey guys,
I am testing Max 2025 with the new color management options, where OCIO is now default.
With this I have troubles getting a loaded PNG images in the VFB background layer to look the same as the plate in PS or any other image viewer. No matter the options I choose, it will look slightly different.
In legacy color management workflow, everything is fine, exact match between VFB and the rest.
What are the recommended settings to get it right?

Hi, thanks for posting. The display correction sits above the background layer and is affecting it.

Is your image sRGB in the external viewer that you use for comparison?

Yes, it affects the background image in such a way that I do not get an exact match between the VFB and the plate while using default OCIO of 3dsMax.
      The image is sRGB, yes.

The image you use for background is viewed in different colour spaces. If you apply the same color space to your external viewer, using the same ocio version with the same settings it should look the same as the VFB.
