  • Vray add texture map (with no texture) to my VrayDirt by it self and it makes error "Missing texture when exporting to *.vrscene.

    Hi

I have noticed something odd. Sometime when I open older files, not that old, just some days even, my VrayDirt, as I often use as a Blend, add a Bitmap map to the Occlude node, by it self. There is no texture in it so I get error when exporting to *.vrscene. As such nothing wrong happens with my material or render, but it is still strange. I thought at first that I was just forgetting that I had added it to it, but this is something I really seldom do, and when this error pops up every other day I think it must be Vray that adds it, by some kind of "I have no idea".

I m not able to share any files, but here is a screen shot on how it looks in material editor.

Odd. I can't seem to reproduce the issue. Does it happen only in specific scenes or even in the simple ones?

I m working on this big scene, lot of objects and going up to 11 Gb in size. Imported and merged a lot of objects and a kind of a chaos, but that is the way I have to work on this project. No time to fix and do it properly as I m deliver illustrations and renders from the scene, all the time. Anyway, the adding of a texture map channel to the VrayDirt I think is only in this project and I do see that it can be connected to some kind of some mess in the files and the materials that has been created by me, but I do have been working on similar projects before and I have not seen this thing happen before. As such it doesn't really affect the results, but I get this long list of "Missing texture" when I export to Vantage. I will follow it up and see if it happens in simpler scenes. I m starting on a new project today and then I will be better be able to see what is happening regard to this.

The "Missing map" is created by 3ds Max usually when a certain plugin is missing, and it is something, which we cannot control. Otherwise, yes, update us if it happens again.

Thanks! Maybe that is it. I had some problem with the license lately in that sometimes when I start Max Vray license is not ready, and then after a restart it is... so maybe it happened in those instances. I will follow it up!

That's very odd, if there's no map plugged in this slot, it should not create one, and especially not one that states there's a missing plugin. And a missing license at start should also not create or change nodes. Something else must be at play here.
