  • Vray 7 - VFB width of Layers Column - Lens effects

I used to be able to make this a lot less wide than it currently needs to be, to be able to have all the buttons and sliders on the screen. (This is on a 4K - 27 inch screen haven't tested on a smaller resolution)

Now if I resize it to what I'm used to some parameters and buttons fall off and a vertical toolbar appears. Not good this way as it is now taking up way too much space.

For instance: The Aparture preview is now centered instead of aligned to the left, and the update button and treshold and saturation are off the screen.

    Vray 6:

Vray 7 (smallest width without scrollbar):

Vray 7 (original width, as you can see threshold and saturation input, as well as the update button is off the screen):

    Can this be fixed please.

    Hello,

    Sorry for the inconvenience!
We can't seem to reproduce this so far - there is some partial cutting with the minimum width but not to the extent you are showing. Could you share some more information about your setup?
What 3ds Max version/update are you using? Are the screenshots(6 and 7) from the same monitor, have you made changes to the display settings? What display scaling is used?

    Best Regards

Hi thanks for getting back. Sorry for the inconvience, I did some more testing and I noticed that I don't have it in 3dsMax directly, which is good. I use 3dsMax 2025 - latest and Vray 7 latest.

In the office I have 4 monitors (3 x 27 inch at 4K resolution and 1 x 24 inch Huion pen display at HD resolution) everything uses the same display scaling of 150% (because of the issues in Max if you have different scalings). I also only use the the 4K monitors for anything Max and Vray.

So, it's a bit weird, I have the problem when I use the commandline to render a vrscene file with vray.exe in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\VRay3ds Max2025\bin\

I don't use the Vray Standalone installation, never used it actually, but this got me thinking to try it with a standalone installation and it also looks good there.

I just tested this on my home workstation, 1 ultrawide 5120 x 1400, 2 x 27 inch (both running on 2560 x 1440 resolution, but 1 is a 4K monitor) and I don't have the issues there either, the scrollbar also looks how they used to. At first I thought the update also made the scrollbars double the size, which you can also see in the screenshot, apart from the spacing issues and bigger sizes of the UI elements.

All in all, it's not as bad as I thought because it works in 3dsMax and Standalone, but not if you use the 3dsMax installation and the vray.exe through commandline (and maybe because of the 4K - 150% scaling in the office). So only an edgecase for when people run renderfarms in the office and want to check in on the render or people like me that use the vray.exe as a standalone VFB.

        Hello,

Thank you for the extensive information!

I reproduced it as well, will check what can be done for that case and update here.
