  • Saner Defaults for VRayBlendMtl ?

Am I the only one who frequently gets tripped up by the fact that the default blend for VRayBlendMtl is set to 50% (the grey square), and that this makes the blending 50% even if you set a blend mask? This always trips me up. I feel like the default blend (the little grey square) should be pure white - 100% to blend of the top layer through the mask.

    Or is it just me?

O yeah, been there! And I've seen others there also.
My muscle memory now goes directly to that blend every time I activate a new slot.

I hear ya. I try to avoid VRayBlenMtl if I can, but it is very useful, even if a little slow. Just seems like that little square should default to white - 100%.

As of 3ds Max 2024, you could set defaults to most parameters. Simply right-click the parameter and choose "Set as New default". I just tested this with the VRayBlendMtl blending color and it works (it changes all slots for some reason, but this way might be better).
