  • Scatter Grass pavers

    I can't get this to work. Seems it would be easy. What am I doing wrong?

    I don't use ChaosScatter and I can't really see the rest of your parameters, but afaik I can see that your map is not correct as it is inverted, You'd want to have white where the black squares are. Also you have lines connecting the corners of your squares, which means if you invert the map you'd also scatter grass on those thin lines.

      Supposing the grass needs to be in the squares, yes, the map should be inverted. You would also need many more instances to "fill it out" (since the distribution mode is Random). You may also experiment with "Position" distribution, which lets you choose a Grid pattern that you could adjust accordingly.

        Yes, I know that the map is inverted. I realized that after I posted. However, I can't get Choas Scatter or Forest Pro to use it correctly. If I get small enough, it will ignore the map. The Forest link you have is when the pavers are geometry.

          Uncheck 'per square', set amount until they fill the spaces. Currently you have 30k per 2ft which is ofc excessive and I guess might cause an issue.
          Anyway, this screenshot show what I quickly just did with default everything but what you see, using both Scatter and Forest and that map

            I use the same method with just a regular map + displacement and ForestPack + a mask.

            Is your mask set to use no color transfer function? And is it pure Black/White?

            In Forest Pack just make sure that the resolution of the mask is set high enough in the settings of the FP Object. (My mask is 16K pixels so I matched that in FP)
