  • Scatter Areas only influencing density

Hello, I think theres a bug? or an area that doesnt work as it should.
When using Chaos Scatter "Areas" we can select a spline to define an area to scatter, and then using near/far, we can spread the area effect.
We can affect 2 different things: Scale and/or density. this is not a boolean on/off but instead a float, that is good for a little more control.
The problem comes that on density a value of 1, means affect fully density, a value of zero means dont affect at all density, BUT on scale a value of 1, means scale from 100% to 0%, and a value of "0" means everything goes to zero, close to spline and far to spline.
The problem is with this behaviour, if you want to only affect density but not scale, its impossible. Since scale =1 means affect scale, scale =0 means scale = to 0%all, close to spline or far to spline.
The useful behaviour of scale should be that at 1, it means we are affecting scale (close to spline 100% original scale, far away, 0% scale), and a value of zero means we are not affecting scale (close to spline 100% original scale, far away 100% scale), then for density and for consistency should be density =1 affect density so, lower to density to 0% when you are far away, and density =0 means keep the original density. For a more visual representation this values could be from 0 to 100 and indicated as %, and will make more sense.

    Hi Eloi,

Currently, the scale and density of instances between the near and far falloffs change linearly - from 1.0 to 0.0 in the case of inclusion, and contrariwise in the case of exclusion. The Scale and Density options allow to further adjust the instances within this range.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to continue the conversation in the support ticket you submitted - #326309.
