Hard crashes 3dsmax every time I try to convert a scene with objects imported (linked) from fbx file or from Revit. Same happens if I bind the files. What could be the reason?

Best you send the files so we can try to reproduce the crash. Also, include the "3dsmax_minidump.dmp" file (located in the Windows %temp% folder), generated after the crash.

Thanks for the provided scene. First of all, the V-Ray converter cannot directly convert Autodesk materials (Hardwood, Ceramic, Generic, etc.) to V-Ray ones. What you need to do is run the 3ds Max native converter to convert those to Physical Material (check screenshot), afterward run the V-Ray converter to convert the Physical materials to V-Ray Mtls.
Regarding the crash, when the VRayConverter tries to convert the Autodesk Bitmaps to VRayBitmaps, it seems to have trouble reconnecting them to the Autodesk materials. I'll log it.
