  • VRayBitmap path not updating with Max Path Editor

I am continually having an issue that seems to only happen with files using VRayBitmap rather than the simple native 3ds max Bitmap for materials. When purchasing content libraries (such as furniture) I typically open the purchased scene, click Utilities and pull up the Bitmap/Photometric Paths editor. I click Edit Resources and select all the files, and re-direct them to the current path on my local network where the texture files are saved. Almost every time, when material is using VRayBitmap, the path has not been updated, and I have to select every texture and update the path one by one. The problem is, If there are 100 materials in a scene, this would be ridiculously time consuming. Is there a script, or a solutions to making VRayBitmap paths to update with all the other map types?

The Utilities Path editor doesn't list VRayBitmaps. You should use the Asset Tracker (File > References > Asset Tracking) instead. There you can either set a new path (Paths> Set Path) for each VRayBitmap OR strip (Paths > Strip paths) all of them and afterward set an External Path in the Configure Project Paths menu (Customize > Configure Project Paths > External Files).

Asset tracker is indeed the way to go.
