  • AMD vs Intel: we get different environment behaviour -help!

When we render a scene with local Intel machines, we get white background (what we want). When we render on AMD renderfarm, we get black background. This is repeatable with any file. Settings are Max environment background colour= white, Vray environment and reflections set to override Max's, skydome with blue and white sky HDR (spherical mapping), and reflect set to white. Max7 SP1, Vray 1.47.03 on all machines, rendered through backburner. Any idea what's going on? Thanks.

Does that mean that the environment is not directly visible (i.e. the only visible thing is the HDR-mapped dome)?

No, there's no physical dome -the HDR is in the Vray environment slot and mapped as spherical, so the background colour set in Max's env. panel should show, and with Intel it does -it's white, like we set it. With AMD, it's black even though the env. colour is set to white. The reflection colour is correct for both, due to the HDR output.

What happens if you set the environment color to something grey?

this is extreamly weird. i use both intel and amd on my render flower pot and i dont see any differences. i know sometimes with the use of large images it sometimes wont load a background image if its run out of memory. however this isnt an image its just a color.
