  • Vray 7 with max2025 - random artifacts when saving animation frames

Hi, We have recently upgraded to new V-ray 7, and encountered issue while saving animation frames. Some frames, randomly appear to have a colour artifacts (see attached image).

To narrow it down, the artifacts only seem to happen on the RGB_color pass when all the post fx are being applied (glare and denoise)

They can also be visible on glare pass too but very vaguely, also glare layer pass seem to be saving an odd frame sometimes that will blink/glitch out.

This issue only occurs in new Vray, never had this before and our pipeline hasn't changed.

We tried to save frames to separate folders and to one folder too.
We tried to disable hardware accelerated post fx on save.

We have another project with animation coming next week, would be great if this issue could be solved somehow.

    Regards

    Just a wild guess..
What if you disable hardware acceleration for the post effects? Maybe some render nodes don't have GPUs capable handling them?

Alternately you could disable the post effects completely and apply them either with the batch processing feature of the VFB or with Nuke or Fusion, etc.

Are you rendering locally or on a network? Does it happen in a simple scene with similar post-effects?

We are rendering within local network, same as we did in previous versions of max and Vray when all was fine.

We have now produced couple more projects and same issues persist... attached is the output from latest.

It seems to happen in random time during the camera path and by random render nodes.

Our render nodes are quite new intel i9 14900K with 64 gigs of ram. The do not have separate graphics cards, they use integrated ones but this was never an issue.

It's best if you send the scene so we can try to reproduce it here. It may be a hardware-related thing, but we'll see.

Thanks for the provided scene and report. The issue is reproducible - it happens when using the Sharpen/Blur with V-Ray Denoiser (without Hardware acceleration) and low samples. I've logged it (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-14774) for developer investigation. To workaround it, enable Hardware Acceleration in the VRayDenoiser (or use another Denoiser); another way is to raise the max. samples.
