  • VrayCurvature convex only.

    I have a very simple test using VrayCurvature to add some edge highlights on my models, but for some reason i am seeing curvature being applied on 'internal / concave' edges even though my material is set to convex only. Is this a but or the way im using it?

    In my example it is simply 2 boxes that are intersecting, but i would not expect see the curvature effecting the concave edges as shown. ​​

    It seems to depend on the geometry. I tried recreating your scene with two simple boxes and got the same effect, however, when I "booleaned" them, it worked as expected. Check the attached scene.

      Thanks for varifying, Booleaning all my geo dosnt really seem like a practical solution, should i report it as a bug ?

        For comparison, here is how Arnold treats the same objects with Convex only set and how i would expect the result to be:

          You're right, it does work with Arnold. I'll report an issue on your behalf. I found an easy workaround, however: set the VRayCurvature mode to "Both" (outputs red for convex, green for concave) and plug it into an RGB tint node, where Red and Blue are set to white and Green to black so as "ignore" the green (Concave) channel. Check the adjusted scene.

          EDIT: FYI, logged the issue (internal tracker id: VMAX-14805).
