  • V-rayDistanceTex viewport performance problems

Hi, I am using an older V-ray (version 5 update 2.3), and I discovered an issue with V-rayDistanceTex. Objects affecting V-rayDistanceTex becomes laggy when moving them in the viewport, so it seems that the distancetex is constantly evaluated. I don't have IPR running and the material editor window is closed.
Is this a known issue, maybe it has been changed in Vray 6 or 7? Is there a workaround for V-ray 5?

Not getting any performance issues with either V-Ray 5 or 7. What Display Driver have you set in the 3ds Max preferences? I'm working with the recommended Direct3D 11. You could also try installing the last V-Ray 5 stable build and see if that makes any difference. Otherwise, note that we do not support V-Ray 5 anymore.

OK, thanks anyways. I'm using the default Nitrous Direct3D 11. I understand that Vray 5 is unsupported of course, just wanted to check if this was a known issue, and if not perhaps it persisted in later versions as well. I never heard about it before, note that the objects I used where quite high polycount 3d scans from Megascans. It might not be noticeable on lower polycount.

...And just now I noticed it has a "compute in viewports" checkbox! If I turn it off it is faster! Haha! Nevermind!
