  • issue with setting vray properties on objects

    Hi guys,

I have discovered that if you have multiple objects in your scene, some having generate gi off and some not, when selecting all those objects and change a vray property, to say make them matte objects, the generate gi will be turned off for all objects in the selection!!

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong here?

    Thanks.

correct, thats how it works now.. :\

I Guess a 'greyed' out checkbox to say that there are mixed settings would help out here

Well, initially it whows it as a greyed box but when applies all the changes it changes their values to none...

          One more question.
I've decided to write a small script to allow me to change just the properties that I need but I ran into another problem!

Through maxscript you can get the object properties through the "user defined properties buffer" and you can change their value there. But these properites are initialized only if you've selected the object and opened the vray properties dialog!! Is there any way to initialize them through scripting? Maybe to run the vray properties dialog in silent mode? Or there is another way to acces those properties?

          Thanks.

Hi Anton, still working? Not sure what you mean by initialized, the V-Ray will read the settings correctly at render even if you only set one of the userprops, I guess if you are trying to get their current state then you could just assume the default for any vray userprops that do not exist in the buffer.
