  • light cache freezes

I've been working on a file with no problem for a week, constantly using the light cache, even in FLY THROUGH mode. Last night, as I launched a light cache calcution the computer shut off. This morning I had to put in a new power supply (I've only had the computer for a week). Now, with the same file, I can no longer do light cache calculations...not even for one frame. The light cache never begins, and vray seems to freeze. I tried using light cache in another file and it worked. I tried merging my current file into a new file....but still does not work. I have no idea what happened and what I can do to fix it. Can anyone help?!?!

You can render from the first frame. I originally was calculating the light cache for the entire animation. Then I was just testing on the first frame.

            I have found your problem...

In your material editor - Material #4 - (Architectural)...

V-Ray doesn't actually love them, as they are based on Raytrace Maps...
Also here is what The V-Ray Message Box just told me...

That architectural material is part of objects merged from another file but not used in that view. The first thing I do is make sure that all the materials are vray materials. What did the vray message box say?

That material was assigned on a table plot, from the lower level, close to the chairs...

About the V-Ray Message Box... just uploading the img... give me a min..

                Thanx...
I hope there are some other materials, which have come with other merged objects... if you can't see that material in your material editor, this doesn't mean it is not in the scene... right ?

I managed to render the scene with just replacing that Material #4 with a VRay Glass and scene renders for 5 seconds...

The other materials which are shown in the V-Ray Message Box, I think You would know better than me, on which specific objects can be found...
because those mats are not in the ME...

                Thanx
                Best Regards,

It seems that you unhid the objects that I was not rendering. I resent you the file with only vray materials. The rendering does not get past the light cache.....the light cache does not even start.....then vray is just freezing.

I found the problem. Previously I was testing transparencies in the animation and found that VRay was freezing when it arrived to frames with the transparency change. This was happening in the Irradiance Map. A forum user told me that Vray does not like Max prop. visibility. I changed all back to visibilty of 1.....so I thought anyway. There was still one GROUP left at .9 visibility. This was causing all the problems!
