  • ...going purple!

Having a strange problem here.... I seem to be getting purble artifacts whenever I set my material color to HUE=255... If I change to 254 purple spots goes away...

    any ideas?

Vray 1.47.03 - no std mats - One direct light and a bunch of vray lights... Using LC+IR - no spots if I use LC or QMC alone

    Color HSV=255,207,117

    Hi jonasa,

Paste from the online manual concernign using the LC:
Do not apply perfectly white or very close to white materials to a majority of the objects in the scene, as this will cause excessive render times. This is because the amount of reflected light in the scene will decrease very gradually and the light cache will have to trace longer paths. Also avoid materials that have one of their RGB components set to maximum (255) or above.

You have answered your own problem ... vray seems to have problems with values of 255 .. There are a few threads about this somewhere deep in the forum..

Did you guys notice that none of the RGB values is 255, its the hue that's 255. I didn't know that that was forbidden

Also.... the two examples were rendered out with IR / NONE not IR / LC as stated earlier... so nothing to do with the LC

I think it applys globally ... would be nice if vray could auto adjust these problems.
