  • Rendering to bright pictures

    HELP with a typical Problem of our Network-Rendering using VRAY.
    [MAX6 with Vray 1.46.03.]

    most of the slaves render in the right way but some render to bright (10 slaves). There are always the same slaves with brigth pictures. Mainly all slaves have the same configuration in cpu etc.

    - all materials are on one computer (1Gbit LAN, it´s not possible to copy the textures to the local drives of the machines)
    - it doesn´t matter how many computers are rendering (if there is still one of those 10 computers in the rendering pipeline there will be the mistake of an overbright image)
    - all machines have the same network pathes, same version (it doesn´t matter if 1.46.02 or 1.46.03. In both version there is the same problem)


    Short Informations about two sample scenes:

    a)
    Scene with GI und animated sequenz (TGA) in GI Environment and Reflection, no Light (Hidden and don´t render hidden lights)
    adaptive subdividion -1, 2
    antialiasing filter Catmull-Rom (normally Area)
    For this renderings - 16 computers. Usualy up to 32 computers

    b)
    Scene with no GI, elight with Shadow Map (hidden), hidden lights on, default lights on
    Adaptive QMC min 1, max 5
    Antialiasing filter Area, Size 1,5
    Vray Environment: HDRI, multiplier 1, HDRI multiplier 0,7
    Vray QMC Sampler
    0,5 16
    0,002 1,0
    Materials:
    mainly VrayMtlWrapper
    Standard materilas with and without vraymap

    Try updating to the last build 1.47.03
    You were talking about 1.46.03 & 1.46.02

      ohhh sorry, 1.47.03 is the version (1.47.03 and 1.47.02)

        I don't know about scene B without GI, but with scene A, what are your primary and secondary bounce engines?

        I never have problems with strip rendering through backburner with IR/QMC even when it is not precalculated. All the slaves get it right enough to be seamless.

        However with IR/LC, you need to precalculate and re-use because for some reason each machine will understand the lighting differently, resulting in severe banding.

        Also, not to sound remedial, but make sure all machines can see not only the texture maps, but the IR map, the HDRI map, the IES files if any, etc.

          ohhh sorry, 1.47.03 is the version (1.47.03 and 1.47.02)
          are you using both versions at the same time on different machines?

              Now im hope his statement is accurate and that he is using the same version across all machine.
              But the problem sure does sound like he isnt.

              I guess we gotta just wait for his reply.

                It may be that some machines have "," as a decimal sign...

                    I think so too, it´s not possible the use "." and "," as a decimal sign

                    we used 1.47.02 and then 1.47.03 (update/overinstall). there are no mix versions running in the renderfarm.


                    GI:
                    primary: Irradiance Map
                    seqondary: none or quasi-monte carlo

                    same problem with precalculated IR map
