Help....what is going on here? Why do I have this splotchiness? While in the middle of working on this file I decided to render high now as a test to avoid surprises in the end....good thing I did it! I rendered at 4200x2970 with the following setttings:

    Adaptive QMC - Min 1 - Max 4 / Amount ,85 - Noise ,002 - Min samp. 10 - Global subdiv 1,0

    Light Cache - Subdiv 1000 - Sample size ,01

    IR - Min -5 Max -1 / Hsph 50 - Interp. 20 - Clr Thresh 0,2 - Nrm Thresh 0,1 - Dist Thresh 0,3

    Using Vray 1.47.03

I have subtle glossy reflections on the street and paving. I'm using an HDRI for the environment color and reflections, but the background is not HDRI. I was having memory problems with HDRI in the background. Plus lots of memory issues with all the reflections in the DOSCH car models. In this view the cars you see are not DOSCH..... I bought Windows 64 for that computer, but still have not installed it.....plus more ram is on the way. Using 2 GB now.

I would reccomend trying a flat light blue colour for the environment rather than a HDRI. Sorry if that advice doesnt help

    Check all materials are vray

render Dosche cars out on a seperate layer

standard materials with raytrace or any reflective stuff that isnt vray can cause this....

Thats all i can think of, sorry

PS: if those are RPC cars I think they use standard raytrace for the glass so you need to disable this in each object, but preferably render out to a seperate layer and composite afterwards

All materials are vray and/or have vray reflections. Though, in this scene the DOSCH cars are hidden. Rendering at 640x480 renders fine....so there must be something in the settings. I rendered another scene with HDRI with no splochiness.

double check that your reflection map is set to environmental as it looks like all of your surfaces are reflecting a flat image or something

your materials should not appear that reflective anyway. kind of weird... possibly try ticking freznel reflections for those materials that you want subtle glossy reflections on

possibly try a different hdri and see what happens?

PS: i personally never use HDRI for the environment after early failed attempts while learning vray. works fine for small objects but in a archviz scene i dont think it is needed. I think this may be the cause but hopefully somene else can say more

It is the splotchiness that is giving the mateials this reflectivity. It is only the street and pavement that has a very slight, blurred reflection.

bandwidth has been exceeded. Can you put the image elsewhere or email it to me?

              hi christoforo

for me it seems to be the blurred irrmap from different buckets from DR...

render the irrmap on ONE machine ans strip it afterwards.

Same version on all machines. I tried last night rendering on just one machine, but received an IR map error.....?!?!? I'm working on the construction of the second view, then I will return to render this view.....hopefully with Windows 64 installed.
