  • IOR values with mapping

How does one determine the numeric IOR value when using a map to specify the IOR in a Vray material? I did some tests (which I can't post because of websense), and I think that black is 1.0. But what is white? How do I determine what greyscale value is what IOR value? Thanks.

The texture map servers as a multiplier for the actual IOR value; so if you have your IOR set to 2.0, a white in the texture map will correspond to 2.0, and black will give IOR of 0.0 (not recommended though).

    Best regards,
