strange geometry

today i rendered a frame and found this!

never happened before...

Is this a consistent error (e.g. does it happen if you re-render the frame)? In any case, it's hard to say what's wrong right away, but if you send me the scene or a part of it enough to reproduce the effect at vlado@chaosgroup.com, I will be able to debug it.

i found it out by myself..

it was imported cad geometry with automatic smoothing.
removed the smoothing groups -> fine.
new smoothing groop in max-> fine!
