  • Renderfarm Issue...

I sent a animation off to Respower Renderfarm yesterday. The file uses Max 8, Vray 1.47.03. Its a fairly large file containing vray proxies and an hdri. The irradiance map is precalulated and all map paths were corrected before I uploaded the file. It is an 1900 frame animation and roughly 10% of the frames (175 to be exact) did not render correctly. The bad frames are randomly spread throughout the entire animation. In some frames the hdri is not loading, some frames the proxies are not loading, some frames the imap is not loading. I rerender the bad frames and they turn out okay, but it is a pain to look through all of them and resubmit the bad ones. I'm fairly sure it is just a hangup on Respowers network that is causing this, but shouldn't this generate some sort of error and force it to rerender the frame instead of rendering it without all the references? Is this a documented bug that will be corrected in 1.5?

well we ocasionally get such errors. For exaple realflow cache files which are sequences *.bin need to be loaded all from one directory on render, and 8 out of 10 times it works but 2 times it says invalid RF file, meaning it cant read it, but the file is correct infact, next time it resubmits it will render.
    My assumption would be -
windows network or something to do with network and loading of extremely large files at once may cause this problem

if it was vrays error i dont see how it would be related to network rendering.

i had this on a smaller scale. i would contact Early at respower. they are very helpful and don't charge for 'bad' frames if you contact them quickly enough.
