  • 20000 proxies

    Hello.
I'm instancing 9 vrayproxies on about 20000 nodes but...can't save the file. I hangs!
Each proxy is about 80000 polygons but I have them as box previews.
If I instanciate simple boxes I can save but not VRProxies.
Shouldn't these proxies be very light on the scene?? Is 20000 too much?
Any known plugin that may be causing this slow down?
    Thanks!

PS:By the way...found that VRMeshToMax has something that causes object selection and opening the scene impossible slow with lots of objects.
(I'll make a post for this issue)

Can't you group for example 100 of these proxies together, make a new proxy out of it, and then you only need to instance 200 of these new proxies instead of 20000.

      Thanks Flipside.
Unfortunatly these proxies are trees and I can't join them because they need to follow the terrain.
Althought max did save with boxes instead of proxies it is noticeble that max doesn't deal well with this volume of nodes...even if very small ones.
Do you feel that 20000 is too much for max to handle?
Any settings that could be changed?
      Thanks again

Do you think this is normal??
        Thanks

I have no idea if 20000 is too much, it sure sounds like a lot!!

Do you instance or copy the proxies??

            Sorry for the delay...
Yes...the 20,000 proxies are instances of 6 different proxies.
The objects are a bit heavy, 80,000 polys each althought They're in box preview.
            Thanks
