Max 8.1 with Vray install problems!

I have Max 8.1 and Max 7.5 on the same machine. I installed Vray in Max 8.1 but can only get VRayLightMtl and no other maps in the Material/Map Browser.

Vray is still installed in Max 7.5; could that be the problem that I must uninstall Vray from Max 7.5 first before installing into Max 8.1?

Sounds like you may need to add the vray folder to your plugin.ini Campare your max 7 ini with the Max 8 ini and add (if missing) the vray line. Make sure to edit the path to point to the Max 8 folder.

On second read, do you have the renderer set to Vray? If not the vray materials will not show.

i have both max 7 and max 8 both install both with vray.

No problems at all.
But as RErender said make sure you have Vray selected as your render otherwise you wont get all the materials shown.

rpc sounds like you dont have vray loaded as your default renderer.

Ok, this has been weird.

I uninstalled Max8.1 completely and re-installed Max 8 and then Vray next and then my other scripts and plugins and all is good. Just haven't upgraded to 8.1 yet. For whatever reason something was screwy with my installation before. Oh well it works now!
