  • Material and HDRI problem. Not appearing the correct colour

    Hi Guys.
As an example, I've got a material with the RGB set to that of wineberry (117 19 31 #75131F). It's supposed to turn out similar to a burgandy.
The problem is that it seems to absorb too much light and instead renders as more of a pink colour than a deep red.

I gather it's absorbing too much light? If so, what should I adjust to rectify the problem?

    Thanks guys.

Mmm, some more info and an image would be nice. If you set your lights to strong it will drastically change the color. You say hdri, this has huge impact on your colors because the hdri probably casts coloured light.

While the HDRI does slightly alter the tint, the brightness of the colours is so much so that it doesn't look natural. The actual gamma of the image looks pretty good though, it's just the individual colours that are so washed out

I'll see if I can post an example later.

      Cheers

Ah, it appears as if my materials were producing GI. I've popped them in the VRayMtlWrapper and unticked Generate GI. It appears to be working well.

If I don't post in this thread again, then all is good!

Maybe this thread will help someone else in the future.

If it works for you, it's ok, but it is nowhere near the correct solution imo. It is normal that your objects bounce off light, that is what GI is for, and by unchecking generate GI you completely disable this. With colored objects, this produces colored bounced light, which is usually referred to as 'color bleed'. If you don't like that effect, you can simply lower the stauration control in the indirect illumination rollout, that will extraxt the color from your light bounces.
