  • Black Grid Boxes ( I swear I searched everywhere for this! )

I am getting very strange ( but very perfectly strange ) artifacts in this rendering. It's an animated book.

The pages are boxes with animated FFD's on them. When I ditch the FFD's ( and the pages go flat ) the artifacts are gone.

    I am dumbfounded.

3 Vray lights in the scene, no GI.

wow i've never seen anything like this... perhaps sending this scene to chaos could help them to figure it out.

if the pages are really thing boxes or something you could just have coplanar faces cause by the bend of the FFD... try upping the secondary ray bias to 0.001 and go from there.

Thats is pretty damn cool tho.. hehe

I like it, I'd say go with it

Maybe try a edit mesh or something on top of the stack.

although guys might be right, some sort of topological issue, or faces overlapping.

If the pages have two surfaces then the FFD is probably causing the back surface to intersect the front one at times.

best thing to do is to have the page as a flat grid then ffd the grid then shell it afterwards to give thickness. since the shell is done after the ffd then it should minimise the risk of coplanar faces
