  • DR, C++ Error on XP64 Servers

    My workstation is 32bit dual xeon 3.06 3GB ram on 32bit XP Professional, I have seven servers that are dual 64bit (NCCH-DL) with XP Professional 64bit. All have latest Vray Adv build, latest updates for XP 64, Max 7 with service pack 1. I have no problems with most files, I can render with DR or submit over the network jobs with no problem. On a couple of my files I submit snd I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error both with DR and when I submit over the network for network render. If I merge this file in to one that works fine I still get the error. I have checked and these files are not missing any plugings, maps or scripts. I cant figure out the problem. Any body have any ideas?

    I figured out the problem. I dont know why, but I have a few nurbs surfaces with displacement maps that when collapsed to meshes solve the problem. There are other nurb surfaces with displacement that work fine? It does not appear to be the displacement maps because when I delete them I still get the same error. Must be something wrong with the nurbs surfaces. Its weird though, when I put my 32 bit workstation on the render farm it renders the files fine. I have had other problems with nurb surfaces and the 64 bit XP. What a pain in the A#@, I have wasted too much time on this problem. Hope this helps some one else out.

      We have run ito this as well with our 64bit machines, no displacement involved just nurbs objects created in Max versions older than Max 7. Newely created nurbs are fine. Not a vray thing since old scanline scenes won't open either.

        Thanks for the further info, you cant even open files with earlier nurb surfaces? I am not having that problem, these nurb surfaces were created with Viz4 but I am using max 7 now. I have had this problem with a very large nurb surface that was created in max 7. In my scene there are othe nurb surfaces that were created in Viz 4 that have no problems at all? WEIRD!

          The difference is that we have 64bit workstations here. If you were to try to open the files on one of your render nodes it would crash.
