  • Vray Proxy mesh + maxtreme

    hi,
I use maxtreme display driver (original quadro FX4500 on first PC, softquadro on second PC).
when i am switching vrayproxy to box mode I see only tripot, no box representation of this proxy.
but with classic OpenGL driver box mode it is correct.

Have you tried the new maxtreme 8's? I have heard they are a bit better for displaying the proxy boxes.

Have you tried DX9? It is quicker for me most of the time.

      Hi RErender,

you are right, that the DX9 driver is really more faster than OpenGL (or Maxtreme) driver.. We have original Quadro FX540 with Maxtreme and soft quadro FX 540 with DX9 driver and I have to say, the softQuadro with DX9 is more than twice faster, than original one. But, only in shading mode. When you switch to wireframes, it´s gone. But I ask: how does it possible?

The softmoded Quadro is originaly GeForce 6600GT from Gigabyte. Perhaps, the point is in the games...that they are using the DX9 to shading polygons too faster, than OpenGL shading mode. So, the question is- will it pay off to buy original Quadro? I think, that the gaming cards are sufficient to modeling in CAD applications...except working with the wireframes.

2 vize: you have to try new Maxtreme, Rerender is true. But it seems, that softquardos card have some bugs in shading with Maxtreme.

The quadros slow down in wireframe too, hard to say if it is less than the softmod without a direct comparison.

          Hi vize,

I'm using a quadro fx1400 with maxtreme 8 drivers and i'm still getting the same problem as you, i can see a proxy object when it's displaying its full mesh, but once i switch it to that bounding box, the box vanishes and you have to select the proxy using select by name.

have'nt figured out a way round it yet appart from changing to direct x or open gl.
