Are you using gamma correction? Is "affect background" checked? It should be checked.

I dont think I am.....Not sure where to find that...I am using Viz 2006....I know that it is under preferences....but I could not find affect background....the sky is in the environment slot and the trees are on the tube.....OOps...Ok...if you mean under color mapping in vray rollout....then the checkbox IS checked.....HSV exponential 1.0 and 1.0 ...I have NOT changed these settings.......still getting the hang of the program

I think the "glowing" around the trees on the horizon can be fixed by changing your map blur to 0.0 and filtering to none.
