  • very strong reflections when using pseudo-linear workflow

I'm using the vray gamma color mapping method and using the colorcorrect plugin to set the gamma of all my color-based materials to 2.2

Should I also use the colorcorrect plugin in the reflection slot? i.e, if I ordinarily have a grey color of 25,25,25 in the slot, should I stick this in the colorcorrect slot with a gamma of 2.2?

(This is a bit difficult to explain - as with most things graphical!)

I assume that I would need to. The reason I ask is that I am getting very strong reflections when I do not use the colorcorrect plugin, even if the color of the reflections is only, for example, 7,7,7. Its as though a tiny amount of 'whiteness' in the reflection slot has a massive effect on the amount of reflection if you don't use colorcorrect. I thought that colorcorrect was effectively just changing the 'brightness' of the color I stick in there - a nice bright red with the colorcorrect plugin would appear as a dull, dark red in the material editor slot window. So with reflections, I would just make the 'grey strength' darker rather than going through the more timely method of setting the 'grey strength' of the reflections as I used to do, then copying it into the colorcorrect plugin and setting the gamma to 2.2.

    Am I making myself understood?
    Kind Regards,
    Richard Birket
