  • Spawner is opening and closing...

When i try to start the spawner from version 1.47.03 it opens and closes that dummy scene all the time. Needless to say that DR aint working on this machine.

    VRSpawner log:

Any idea what is causing this. The machine is running max 8 sp2 with 4 gigs of ram and XP Prof SP2 and all updates. I have NET Framework 2 installed and not 1.1

All the other machines are fine so far

This is the max logfile from the network folder that is used by the spawner (VRaySpawner temp dir: "E:\3dsmax8\network)

The other log file thats in there is called toServer which has this in it :

    error
    Unknown error while loading application

    Thx for any help

    Ralf

PS: I have 5 machines all with HT enabled working on one frame. Whats the maximum of computers that i can include in the rendering. If i remember correctly 1 vray licence allows 10 cpus. Does this include the HT and dual cores as well. Does this mean only 5 machines could render since they have "2 cpus" .

Is it a fresh machine with Max 8 installed? No previous versions of Max? Then you will have to install an earlier version of Max 7, then reinstall Vray on Max 8. Then you can uninstall 7. It's a weird bug.

No. 1 V-Ray licence allows 10 PCs (9 render-nodes + 1 client machine) for a DR. Additional render-nodes can be added to the same licence. For further info on this please write to < vray@chaosgroup.com >.

I've had this problem on a few of our machines - solution was to change the "login as service account" that the spawner service uses.

                  What? Where is that?
Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services - then right click on the VRay spawner service and select properties. Log in rights is the second tab along.
