  • lightcache fly-through preview

    hello everyone
i m having a bit of a problem with light cache and wanted to get your opinions
i m rendering an animation (animated camera only) with irmap and LC in flythrough mode. i m precaclulating the solution every 4th frame
the problem is that the LC preview shows samples only from the last frame of the aninmation and not from all of them combined as its supposed to.
the preview looks very clear like it is when caclulating a single frame.
    any ideas?
the scene has only vray mats, no 255 values etc.
    vray 1.47.03,max 8sp1,xp 3gbswitch

    one more thing
when precalculating IRMAP and LC should you turn on or off the "switch to
    saved cache/map"
    what are the pros/cons

    thanks in advance
    kind regards
    alkis

LC is calculated over the frames in the current time segment, which has to be set in the time controls...So in theory you could set your rendered frames from 0-1000 while your current time segment is 900-1000: this would result in a correct IRR map but a false LC map.

thanks for the reply but i m having difficulty following what you re saying
by current time segment do you mean active versus selected range
and since the active is the entire timeline if ti was calculating that instead of the range it would result in a correct LC ( more complicated) that you can use to render any selected ranges.
